Meeting # 9: Diversity in the Archival Profession

Thursday, August 7th, 4-5pm

Beinecke Room 38

Discussion Leaders: Intern Brigade (Audrey Pearson, Robin Katz, Martha Horan, Bergis Jules)

We will discuss Elizabeth Adkins' Presidential Address given at the SAA Annual Conference in 2007.   "Our Journey Toward Diversity and a Call to (More) Action" in American Archivist (Vol. 71, No. 1/Spring-Summer 2008, pp. 18-20)

This article offers a brief but rich historical background on SAA and diversity issues within the profession.  It also covers current programs and strategies to recruit a more diverse workforce and touches on some of the issues surrounding the meaning of diversity. Enjoy it and we look forward to this discussion.

It can be found on the American Archivist online site or here: Adkins article
